Simple Apple Cranberry Crisp

Spiced with all the warm and comforting flavors of winter, this simple apple cranberry crisp works equally well as an indulgent mid-week sweet treat or a special dessert to wow your guests with on Christmas Day. This sweet and crunchy apple cranberry crisp is so delicious everyone will think you spent the whole day in the kitchen making it, when the reality is it takes hardly any time or effort!

Simple Apple Cranberry Crisp

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds apples, peeled and cored
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
  • ½ cup walnuts, chopped
  • 5 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg


Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and spray a 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. Add the melted butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt into a medium bowl and mix until combined.
  3. Chop the apples with your Indy Chef magic chopper and transfer them to the baking dish. Add in the cranberries, pecans, and granulated sugar and toss to combine.
  4. Spread the crisp topping all over the apple mixture and bake until the top is golden brown and the filling is starting to bubble through, around 30 minutes.
  5. Let the crisp cool for a few minutes before serving with some vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Enjoy!


Recipe Notes:

Tip: for an extra delicious fruit crisp, pick a type of apple grown for baking. Honeycrisp, Gala, Golden Delicious, and Granny Smith are our favourite apples for baking with.
